127: Bek of Weeded Warrior joins the Float Shoppe
Bek Houghton of the Weeded Warrior project joins the crew again to provide updates on the project and how her life has evolved. The Weeded Warrior helps veterans and their families who’ve experienced service-related trauma to overcome PTSD through holistic modalities.
Since she was last on the show, Bek has moved to Portland and now works at The Float Shoppe with Dylan. In addition to some personal decisions, she wanted to continue to grow the project, and some of the culture in Australia doesn’t support their vision for incorporating cannabis as a treatment method. She shares how floating has helped her, and how she struggled at times to get in the tank.
This week, Amy is preparing to open the taproom at Float Alchemy and expects to open those doors this week with a temporary Use & Occupancy permit. However, they had to remove plumbing a few weeks ago, and now they’re being told they have to close the wall where the float room plumbing was, and that FRP (fiberglass-reinforced plastic) isn’t good enough. It’s a wild ride in Rutherford County… just listen in to hear all of the lastest demands.
Dylan describes how Emily, one of his employees, has taken on a bigger role in leadership at The Float Shoppe, and how his team dynamics are starting to evolve since he and Sandra aren’t at the Shoppe as much as their business is growing.
