The gang is joined this week by Meredith and Dustin of Do Nothing Floatation Centre in Invermere BC Canada. The day after they found out they were pregnant, Dustin realized that construction wasn’t what fulfilled him and became empowered to form the vision for a float center that incorporated Meredith’s passion for utilizing local food. With kids helping with demolition and parents, both contractors, helping with construction, it’s been a true family affair! In addition to floating, the center offers Reiki, massage, workshops, therapeutic yoga, and a juice and smoothie bar.
Although starting a new business can be risky, especially when trying to provide a secure base for a family, Meredith talks about why she had no fear. They talk about how they divided responsibilities, both for developing the business and for caring for the family. It’s not for the faint of heart, though, and they share how they’ve formed their solid base in their relationship. Meredith and Dustin are also very passionate about making sure that everyone can float who needs to and talk about the discounted pricing, scholarships, and other programs they offer for clients with medical conditions.
The Float Shoppe acquired two used Mac computers from Craigslist after the hard drive of their main computer went down, which ended up being a learning experience about running diagnostics on used computers before purchasing.
Some weeks are crazier than others, and this was definitely one of those weeks for Amy. Float Nashville’s website went down and, for awhile, seemed like it was lost. Producer Brian pops on to talk about backing up your web files. Amy talks about listening to what her body needed in terms of rest, which is why she’s podcasting from Florida!
